A new management plan is being drawn up for Suomenlinna in cooperation with partners. UNESCO requires that all World Heritage Sites prepare a plan outlining how the site is managed and developed. The management plan is implemented in cooperation with a wide range of partners through a continuous process. The project team consists of personnel from the Governing Body of Suomenlinna and the Finnish Heritage Agency.
The new management plan will continue the long tradition of managing Suomenlinna. The previous plans in use and management will be observed in the new management plan of Suomenlinna as well as changes in society.
The management plan consists of four parts:
- The past and current situation
- Guidelines for the future
- Action plan
- Monitoring and impact assessment
